Big games have teams of people working on models because if one person was working on one model it would take months depending on how complex it is. Since you are just one person all I can suggest it being patient and doing a lot of reading on 3ds and general modeling. Then reading up on the SDK and how it uses models and the engines limitations on them. It helps to decompile stuff already in the game to see what goes into making the different files.

Also when you were showing me the problem with textures on your map there was a lot of overly complex brushes and intersecting brushes that will cause FPS drops even on higher end systems. You should look at the dos and don't of the hammer editor for source.

Flash is already quite experienced in mapping scratch, at least at 1.6.

If you really want to develop your skills you cant avoid modeling. Brush based editors are pretty much done. But its like scratch said, dont expect to learn everything at once. Creating the mesh is actually the easiest part of the process. Unwrapping, optimizing,rigging, baking maps and exporting is the tough part, which needs alot of patience to get a hang of.
Try to start with an easy crate and get it ingame with your own unwrapped texture. Its harder than it sounds but once done you can easily build from that.

"Making models" is easy, creating nice ones an entirely different story. You want to do everything at once, but maybe that is the problem. Why don't you start with making a few maps to get the hang of it, then head out into modeling? As you've noticed, modeling itself is not the only thing necessary to get a model in the game. It's a complex process that you can only learn gradually. Start with the basics!

The thing is that i can make models in 3ds max! The problem is the camera thing and allot of functions.. + the texturing phase in 3ds i cant realy understand it!

The thing is that modeling IS complex at first, as are mapping and texturing. Without patience you won't get very far designing maps. You don't need to create fancy shit at first - start with more simple, clean maps. It'll also help you actually finishing something instead of stopping half way through. Speaking from experience here. ;)

jYue already helped, he found a program that makes models from hammer and i dont need other thing big thanks to him , im not lazy frag i just dont have patience! Thx but that one is not for me i have like 20000 textures and working with every one will take me an eternity!!

Hmm, first of all you shouldnt be like "Make me models cause im too lazy", because that attitude is a no go and wont get you any help. Patience is probably the most important capacity a mapper should have.

Im also pretty sure, that there actually are some tips in our forum, concerning texture creation. Just check for tutorials @ [link] .Very nice for starting with hl2 editing.

Steam Errors Solution

It has come to my attention that a few of you out there are not able to play the game properly at the moment.

If you got the following error while trying to connect to a live server or even your own LAN server then read the extended news (click READ THE REST) for the full solution:

"Error veryfying Steam USer ID Ticket"

Usually this error is solved by erasing the clientregistry.blob, but apparently this is no longer enough for some of us.

NOTE ON KZMOD DEVELOPMENT: Stop thinking we are dead! Raptor and I are simply busy with RL things (jobs and university) but we are still very dedicated to this project and 1.0 will see a release. Tag Arena has undergone further testing and basically only cosmetics are left. We hope we can release some video footage of that very soon. At the present rate of progress a Christmas release will be impossible but we wish you a pleasant holiday season anyway

We have scheduled another Event for fun with 4.2 on the official EU server #1 again for

Sunday, March 13 at 8pm GMT+1. THIS HAS BEEN CORRECTED (used to say Sunday the 12th....Sunday is the 13th!!)

We are filming new material for an action movie so bring all your friends and hang out!

Please remember that there is a Demo Submission stop called until KZmod 1.0 is released. Due to our changed movement to the 1.6 feeling, we will be forced to wipe all records. We just don't want you to geek for hours on end only to have your hard work wiped out!

In other news, due to recent developments in the game it is looking like the need for KCAC to record you demos in the future will not be necessary. For anyone who had troubles getting that thing to work, you may now feel very relieved.

Raptor, with the help of Numb, a talented AMXX programmer, has truely created 99% perfect 1.6 movement for KZmod. The only real difference in the feeling of the game according to some very talented CS players is that, although our airacceleration is set just like CS1.6, it is slightly more powerful which affects strafing and stand-up bhop jumps.
